Setup & troubleshooting.

How to install CrossX Overlay, set up your crosshair, and fix common issues.

Installing CrossX Overlay

  1. Download the CrossX Overlay installer for Windows.
  2. Run the installer and follow the on‑screen steps.
  3. Launch CrossX Overlay from the Start menu or desktop shortcut.

On first launch, Windows SmartScreen might warn you about running software from the internet. If you downloaded from an official source, click "Run anyway" or "More info" to proceed.

Basic configuration

Start with a preset:

  1. Open CrossX Overlay on your desktop.
  2. Pick a preset: Classic Cross, Precision Dot, Circle, or Hybrid.
  3. Adjust size, thickness, color, and opacity with the sliders.
  4. Save the preset so it loads next time.

Create different presets for different games—maybe a small dot for tactical FPS and a bigger circle for shotguns.

Common issues

The crosshair doesn't show up in game

  • Make sure the overlay toggle is turned on in CrossX Overlay.
  • Check that your game is on the same monitor as the overlay.
  • Try borderless windowed mode—some exclusive fullscreen modes block overlays.
  • If you have other overlay software running, disable it temporarily to check for conflicts.

The crosshair looks off-center or offset

  • Make sure Windows DPI scaling is the same on all monitors.
  • If you changed resolution while the overlay was running, toggle it off and back on.
  • Restart CrossX Overlay after changing your main display or resolution.

Anti‑cheat warnings or questions

CrossX Overlay is an external overlay—it doesn't inject into game processes or modify game files. That said, you're responsible for following each game's terms of service and rules about overlays or third‑party tools.
